The Lernen to Talk Show: Episode 45 – Fog Masters

October 30, 2012

For my last month working at Bildundtonfabrik, the crew was hard at work making a music video for the German band Get Well Soon. What resulted was an epic trailer for the fictional film La Bestia Scarlatta con Sette Teste. It features hideous monsters, clashing gods, a merciless cowboy, and a damsel in distress-turned vengeful heroine. Watch it here!

Pretty awesome, right? During one of the days of production I got the chance to talk with Finn. It was his first day as a Praktikant, and he was already in charge of making fog for the scenes on Mount Olympus. Join us as we discuss the ins and outs of fog production atop an eerie hill in Bottrop! It gets a bit windy up there, so I missed a couple of things Finn said. If you are able to decipher it let me know in the comments!

0:55 – The word for Mount Olympus is actually Olymp.

0:58 – I’m not certain I got this subtitle right. It sounds to me like he’s saying “irgendwas kriärisches am Olymp“, but I don’t think “kriärisches” is a word…

1:22 – If you watch the video, you’ll know what we’re talking about.

1:58 – I like the color scheme in this episode. It almost makes up for the horrible camera work.

3:36 – I missed what he says here too…

3:38 – …but that won’t stop me from pretending I understood.

3:42 – I accidentally forgot to say uns before finishing the sentence. I should’ve said, “Ich freue mich darauf, auf was diese Nebel uns bringt.”

3:49 – And Matthias Schulz makes his second appearance on the Lernen to Talk Show!

at 0:58 he sais: “irgendwas kriegerisches am olymp” which I would literally translate to “something with war at mount olympus”
