The Lernen to Talk Show: Episode 4 – Piston Hurricane and Lena!

August 24, 2011

Monday morning my German teacher (as foreshadowed in episode 3) appeared as this week’s guest. I tried my best to keep the episode a bit shorter this time. What I didn’t mean to do was to have so much of it taken up by asking about the amount of time left. We’re still working out the kinks, folks. Join us as we talk about our favorite music, and the unfortunate timing of the most anticipated reunion of my life. But as they say, “Ohne Fleiss kein Preis!”

Thanks to Kansas Kate for the camera work!

Now go ahead and let Lena tell you how she feels about you by clicking here. And find out why I keep wearing that shirt even though it’s too small for me here.

Note: Piston Hurricane has not played a show in five years. I have no idea why I said three and then four in our conversation.

Update: My good friend Priya offers a better translation of Piston Hurricane: “SCHAFT ZYKLON”. I wholeheartedly agree with her.

Why haven’t you posted any info about the Piston Hurricane show in Chicago this week?? I will go on your behalf! All because you said “But in the next week… they play once again!” and I loved it that much.

I didn’t post any more info because I don’t know any! It’s been rumored for months, but just the other day Jimmy told me it’s actually happening! I’ll try to find out the info and tell you.

Mickey, I think I speak for everyone who watches Lernen to Talk Show when I say that we would NOT hold it against you if it went over three minutes.

Hallo! Ich bin Brasilianer und versuche selbst Deutsch lernen jeder Tag am Internet. Das ist meiner erster Besuch in dein Blog. Es ist super!!! Gefällt mir so sehr!!!
Ach!! Eigentlich… Ich muss neuen “Kolben” für mein Motorrad kaufen!

Okay, I’ve pushed myself enough in German (probably with lots of mistakes)… hahaha… Trust me… Piston in German is der Kolben. I have a KTM dirt bike, and it is made in Austria. At the spare parts manual, it is saying Kolben for Piston!
    .
Thank you for the uploads! Someday I’ll head to Germany too!
    Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
    Lucas.

Hallo Lucas! Thanks for the info! I didn’t know that Kolben meant Piston. Even though I studied Maschinenbau… You know, I actually did a later episode with a Brasilianer named Lucas! Check out Episode 16. Maybe you’ll recognize him! Brazil’s not that big, right? hahaha.

Thanks for checking out my site!

When she says “sie können das aufnehmen” she means “record” btw, not accommodate.

I can not believe how improved your German in two weeks. Two months ago I moved to Germany without knowing German and like you, the first word I learned was Guck mal haha. But I have not started my german courses, I hope to learn as fast as you. Greetings and congratulations for your blog.
